DraftKings Ready for Sportsbook Launch in West Virginia

DraftKings Ready for Sportsbook Launch in West Virginia

DraftKings is making the most out of the current situation in the United States. They will be offering their online sports betting products for the people in West Virginia

…and they will do so through their partnership with Penn National Gaming.

In the meantime, DraftKings has the agreement with the land-based gaming operator, Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races venue. They will help the supplier to deploy its mobile and online sports betting platform in the state.

Healthy Relationship

“We are thrilled to work with Penn National Gaming to bring our online sportsbook product to West Virginia,” DraftKings Chief Revenue Officer and co-founder, Matt Kalish, stated.

“We look forward to serving sports fans in the Mountain State and building on the immense success we have had in leading the New Jersey market,” Kalish added. “With over 90% of sports bettors returning to play after trying DraftKings sportsbook, we are confident we can deliver on being the best place to play for West Virginia consumers.”

Another State Checked

DraftKings is slowly making its way across the United States, adding West Virginia to the checklist. Before focusing on this state…

…the brand has launched sports betting on mobile in New Jersey in collaboration with Kambi. The services here are provided by the supplier’s proprietary app that went live in this state.

Moreover, DraftKings has spread to the market in Mississippi. The sports operator launched its first sportsbook in this states in the middle of November and just like it is the case with the other markets, mobile app was a part of the deal.

Arriving First

One market after another and the operator has reached West Virginia. However, this state has been opened towards online and mobile wagering…

…so how come DraftKings is coming this late?

Despite the openness of the state and the opportunity land-based facilities have to place their services, none have launched online wagering so far. The reason for this is that they are taking much longer than anticipated to first develop and then test their products, before they are ready to launch.

And if the product is flawed when it is tested, the repairs delay it even further. Be that as it may, DraftKings is now ready! And Pennsylvania-based Penn National’s senior vice president of regional operations John Finamore is eager to welcome them. He said:

“We are pleased to help welcome DraftKings to West Virginia. We believe the state will certainly benefit from DraftKings’ tremendous brand awareness and expertise in providing customers a quality online sports betting experience.”

Making the Most Out of It

Once it launches a sportsbook in a state, DraftKings is looking to capitalize on it. For example, in Mississippi, the operator launched its sportsbook and then remained quiet for a while…

…until they came up with an agreement with IGT regarding software distribution. This has been a major deal for both sides and something similar can be expected in West Virginia as well but perhaps with a different name.
