Michael Myers Returns in Microgaming Halloween Title

We’ve got big for you in the Microgaming realm, and if you’re a fan of classic horror films, you’re sure to be particularly excited about this! The leading software brand has officially landed a licensing deal with Compass International Pictures, which gives it the necessary rights to go live with a reel version of the classic 1970’s serial killer flick, Halloween, in the near future.

For those of you who have not seen the film, or simply need a quick recap, it focuses on main character, Michael Myers, and his return to Haddonfield, Illinois, for a killing spree on Halloween night. His return takes place 15 years after the murder of his sister at the age of six. Directed by John Carpenter, the film also showcases Jamie Lee Curtis’ film debut.

The film has since been remade into modern versions, with a total of ten films in its franchise. It continues to be one of the most popular slasher films of all time, nearly 40 years later, having grossed $70 million worldwide to date.

“Halloween is a true classic and set the standard for modern horror films. It was immeasurably influential in the slasher genre of movies, so it is great to be working with such an iconic and respected brand. Embracing all the elements of what made the movie such a success, our games team are busy developing a slot for release later in the year,” commented Games Publisher at Microgaming, David Reynolds.

“We are excited to team up with Creative Licensing and Microgaming to bring Michael Myers and Halloween home to all of our loyal fans in the best possible ways through top licensees who create products we feel honour the character, film, and franchise,” added, Ryan Freimann, SVP of Compass.

Expect to play the game for real money sometime later this year.
